We knew we didn't have far to go, so we slept in this morning. By the time we ate, showered and hit the road, it was 10:30 when we left the Mat-Su Campground just north of Willow. We took the 14 mile spur into Talkeetna to look around. When we were on the cruise-tour ten years ago, we got off the train there and got on one of Princess' busses to go to the lodge.
Walked around Talkeetna for a while. Marsha bought some bamboo socks for herself and Adi. Yes, the fiber is made from bamboo, but it wasn't grown in Alaska.
We got to Denali National Park about 4:00 and set up camp after checking in. No problems with our reservation, the first one we've made on this trip! Tomorrow, we have to get up at o'dark:30 to catch a bus for our 65 mile (one way) trip into the park. We saw a moose along the highway today. Hope we see some bears tomorrow! We have to take all the food and drink for the day, so Marsha made sandwiches and iced tea for us. We'll let you know how it goes.
