2010 - July 9 (Day 24) Homer to Willow

We drove the 322 miles from Homer to Willow today. We passed thru Wasilla and you can NOT see Russia from there! We stopped in Anchorage for gas and groceries. That only leaves us about 125 miles or so to get to Denali N.P. tomorrow. I forgot to mention that on our way down to Homer the other day we had two moose sightings. One was a cow and two calves; the other was a cow and one calf. This morning, we saw a cow and a calf. I got one picture, but it's not great. I think the calf is behind the mail boxes.

When we got up this morning there was an eagle perched on the roof of a condo not far from our campsite. I got a few shots of him. On the way northward from Homer, I shot some pictures of some mountains across the inlet. Took the same pics on the way down the other day, but it was so overcast and foggy that I could hardly see the mountains. Today was clear. Enjoy!

Tonight, we are camped at the Mat-Su Campground just north of Willow, AK. It's actually not very far from the campground outside of Palmer where we stayed on July 5. Tomorrow night and the two nights after that, we'll be dry camping (no hook-ups) in Denali National Park. Don't know if there will be any Internet access, so I'll catch up with you when I can.
