2010 - July 8 (Day 23) Spent the day in Homer, AK

We had breakfast with our Minnesota friends, Jim & Bonnie, before they left this morning. We had seafood omelets at Sourdough Express. They were great! The place was started by some hippies who baked bread in a propane oven in a truck then used the truck to peddle their goods. The truck is now in the front yard of the restaurant.

We took in the Pratt Museum and the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center. We drove around and made our way up to Skyline Drive where we took some scenic photos of the Homer Spit. The campground we're staying in is at the far end of the spit.

Got back to the campground, ate lunch and did laundry. We made reservations to camp in Denali National Park for three nights beginning on Saturday, the 10th. We're looking forward to that. Jim and Bonnie are going to the park, too, so we may run into them again. In addition to camping, we signed up for the bus tour into the park. The full all-the-way-in tour takes thirteen hours, so we signed up for the half-way-in tour. If we have any energy left, we'll do some hiking on the second day. Don't know about any Internet connections there, so there may be a dry spell in the blog postings.
